Comprehensive Chiropractic Care
Our primary techniques is a “spinal adjustment,” also known as a “spinal manipulation” The term refers to the physical manipulation and mobilization of the spinal vertebrae. The goal of the spinal adjustment is to mobilize and restore normal joint function of the effected vertebrae. The effected spinal joint is referred to as a “subluxation”
When a patient has subluxation, depending on their condition and level of subluxation, a chiropractor adjusts the misalignment in the spine to enhance joint mobility, reduce pain, muscle spasms, nerve irritation and relieve nerve impingement.
Chiropractic adjustments are a special skill acquired from years of practice. There are several techniques we can use. Most people are familiar with the high velocity low amplitude type of adjustment usually consisting of quick thrust to the spine usually causing the familiar popping sound. We also can use instrument assisted adjustments and manual mobilization techniques that do not cause the popping sound as well. Please let us know if there is a specific way you prefer to get adjusted.
How Chiropractic Works
Chiropractic care has been shown repetitively to outperform traditional medical treatment for spinal complaints. In fact, several studies show that chiropractic cost Benefits out preform a traditional medical model. Chiropractic adjustment mainly effect the nervous system. When an adjustment is delivered, normal joint function is restored. When the vertebrate is moving properly, the neural reflexes that produces pain and muscle tightness are broken. Once the muscle tension and inflammation are reduced, pain subsides. In acute cases the inflammation or muscle tension may quickly cause the vertebra to lock up again. In chronic cases, poor movement patterns may be responsible for repetitive stress at the joint level. This is why repetitive adjustments are needed. Think of the movement of the spine like a light switch. The bones are not in or out of places like the on or off of the light switch but it is the quality of motion from the up to down that determines if a spinal joint is out of alignment.
Chiropractic works by restoring normal movement patterns of the spine and body. Proper movement patterns are essential for a pain free lifestyle. Movement patterns are altered by stress, tension, posture, injury and ergonomics. As chiropractors, we are taught how to spot these patterns and correct them either segmentally through the adjustment or globally through corrective exersices
Our 5 Step Approach
- Chiropractic Adjustment – mobilize the spinal joints causing the dysfuntinon
- Relief muscle tension – this is done with muscle stem, traction ultrasound and soft tissue work
- Stretch – we show you how to properly stretch any muscle needed.
- Strengthen – We show you how to properly activate and strengthen weaker muscles which may be contributing to your movement dysfuction
- Integrate – Once the proper muscles are activated we show you how to properly us them through movement patterns.
