Risk Factors
A lot of this pain is linked to abuse and misuse of our feet. This could be from the type of shoe we wear, standing on concrete all day or genetic flat feet. Taking care of the feet that support you each day will go a long way to prevent pain from developing. Patients need to be aware of risks like:
- Running or jogging habits, especially if you run on hard surfaces or with improper footwear
- Insufficient rest time between strenuous activities
- Shoes with rigid support or that constrict the feet
- Flat feet and a lack of proper foot mechanics
- Medical conditions such as diabetes, gout or other arthritides.
Chiropractic Treatment Options
Chiropractors are musculoskeletal specialists and not just for the spine. We can adjust feet and work with the soft tissue around it. Here are a few techniques we use:
- Manual adjustments
- ISTMA (Instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation)
- Theraputic Ultrasound
- Orthotics
- Foot and Toe exersices
- Trigger point release
- Home instructional care
